“When I look at the beauty of the world around me I am stirred deep within by a reverential awe for the Creator and our sense of responsibility to care for this world. The farms, fields, and wooded areas that are often the subjects of my paintings are rapidly being gobbled up by development. It brings me great joy to place colorful marks on paper that represent a particular time and place. Rather than create a literal interpretation of the landscape I am more interested in expressing the mood or emotion evoked by a scene. If the viewer is stirred by a memory or emotion or perhaps a new way of relating to the rural landscape then I have achieved my goal.”
